Even before the release of his last directorial outing HIMMATWALA, filmmaker Sajid Khan had made a promise to leading lady Tamannaah Bhatia that she would feature in his next film. No wonder, when the principle cast of HUMSHAKALS was being put together, Tamannaah was the first heroine to come on board.
‘And that’s because I genuinely believe that she deserves to be one of the topmost heroines in Bollywood,’ says Sajid who had trusted Vidya Balan (HEYY BABYY) and Deepika Padukone (HOUSEFULL) to deliver goods when they were not as huge a superstar as they are today.
‘See, Tamannah is already very big down South. She has already done close to 40 films and that too at such a young age. Imagine the kind of experience she has gained as an actor in such a short time period. Personally too, I was very happy working with her in HIMMATWALA. Moreover, what has impressed me all this while is her on as well as off screen persona. She was always in my mind for HUMSHAKALS and hence it was a no-brainer to rope her in,’ details Sajid.
In the film, while Tamannaah as well as Esha Gupta are roped in opposite two different Saifs, Bipasha Basu would be seen opposite Riteish Deshmukh.
With as many as three heroines out there, is there any one of them who would hold prominence over other?
‘Well, when you see the film, you would realize that roles for all the three girls are equally divided. They are not just required to be glamorous and entertain through song and dance routine; they also help take the narrative forward,’ assures Sajid.
We would like to see that once this multi-starrer by Vashu Bhagnani and Fox, which promises ‘nine times the fun’, releases all over on 20th June.
