All Eyes On ‘Himmatwala’ To Be A Box Office Biggie

598850_10151560397101979_553891476_n2013 has been good for small to medium budget films this year, what with close to half a dozen of these entering the green zone and making decent profits. In terms of biggies, Race 2 and Special 26 have made money as well. However, a movie that indeed goes on to be real huge at the box office is still awaited. Even though Race 2 scraped past the 100 crore mark and Special 26 ended its run in the vicinity of 70 crores, one awaits a film that crosses the century mark rather comfortably and goes way past that in the long run.

Himmatwala could well turn out to be one such film.

The are a few factors going in it’s favour. Director Sajid Khan has shown good escalation in the box office fortunes of his films ever since the days of Heyy Babyy to Housefull 2 (which scored around 120 crores). Ajay Devgn has been on a roll with Son of Sardaar being the 100 crore success despite competition from Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Also, his Bol Bachchan and Singham had met this feat. The remake factor coupled with popular music should further help it’s cause. Last but not the least, there has been good marketing and promotion that has kept the film in news right from it’s inception.

This means that the film should take a good opening a the box office and an extensive release means that even 60%-70% opening at an all India level would be good enough for this co-production of UTV and Vashu Bhagnani to start raking in good money. As a result, one does see a weekend of over 40 crore pretty much on the cards, though if audiences at multiplexes catch fancy of the film as well, there could be more coming in.

Audience, industry and trade are expecting an entertaining movie in the form of Himmatwala and if the product is as good as the hype, there is a winner in the making.

Tamannaah goes ‘Gangnam’ Style

Though he may be remaking a 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi starrer, director Sajid Khan has included 2012′s hugely popular Gangnam style dance moves in his upcoming film Himmatwala.

One of the tracks in this film starring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah has the Korean rapper Psy’s steps which have created a storm across the world.

A unit source says, `The song featuring Tamannaah with a bunch of kids is a funny track. When the makers were deciding on which steps to include for the children’s number, everyone came up with the Gangnam style. That’s when we realised that the audiences especially the tiny tots will love it.`

Adds the source, `Sajid Khan wanted it to be a fun wacky song and as Gangnam style is easily recognised, he settled for the Gangnam moves.`

Tamannaah made her B-Town debut in the 2005 flick Chand Sa Roshan Chehra after which she began working in South films.

Naga Chaitanya & Tamannaah busy in song shoot

Naga-Chaitanya-TamannaYoung heartthrobs Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah together entertained the audiences with the film 100% Love and now the duo teaming up once again for the remake of Tamil hit Vettai stepping into the shoes of Arya and Amala Paul.

Currently, a song on the lead pair is being canned at Ramanaidu Studios. Thaman is the music composer. Bellamkonda Suresh bought the remake rights of the film and is producing it under Sri Sai Ganesh Productions banner. The film is yet to be titled though a couple of names Bhale Thammudu and Thadaka are doing rounds.

Besides Naga Chaitanya, Tamannaah, the commercial entertainer being directed by Kishore Kumar Pardasani also casts Sunil, Andrea Jeremiah as the other leads.

Why Tamannaah missing from ‘Himmatwala’ promotions?

HimmatwalaSajid Khan has been promoting his directorial venture “Himmatwala” since its inception along with lead actor Ajay Devgn. But one wonders why Tamannaah, the female lead of the movie, is not part of the extensive promotions? The director says it’s a strategy.

“Tamannaah is shooting for a film in the South and we believe the lesser she is exposed in front of the media before the release (of ‘Himmatwala’), the better for the film, ” Sajid said Tuesday on the sets on TV dance reality show “Nach Baliye 5″, where Ajay too came to promote the movie.

Sajid is one of the judges of “Nach Baliye 5″ and was promoting the movie, a remake of director K. Raghavendra Rao’s 1983 hit “Himmatwala” that had hit the ‘jodi’ of the 1980s – Jeetendra and Sridevi – in the lead roles.

He further said: “When a fresh face comes on the big screen, it is a different experience all together. “

“Himmatwala” is releasing March 29 and Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in a special appearance in a disco number in the film.

Tamannaah talks about Himmatwala Song Shooting

Tamannaah just finished shooting a song with Ajay Devgn in Himmatwala. This was directed by Sajid Khan and choreographed by Farah Khan. This film is a remake of Sridevi’s “Himmatwala” of 1983.

When asked about doing a song already done by Sridevi, Tamannaah said with a smile, “Though the film is a remake of Himmatwala (1983), director Sajid Khan has given the film, songs included, a new twist. Tathaiya… has become peppier, and Farah Khan has choreographed the song wonderfully. She has changed the movements completely and has made us look fresh on screen. I got to wear costumes similar to what Sridevi wore, something from the 80s, with crowns and all. I haven’t worn anything similar for any of my other films.”

Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah recreate ‘Tathaiya Tathaiya’ for Himmatwala

Himmatwala Tamanna New Still

Film director Sajid Khan seems to recreate the entire magic of 80′s blockbuster film ‘Himmatwala’ starring Jeetendra and Sridevi, for its modern day remake. We still remember the magic of Jeetendra-Sridevi’s popular number ’Tathaiya Tathaiya’ and now its time for yet another ‘Tathaiya’ because director Sajid Khan has recreated its magic again.

Along with South siren Tamannaah, Devgn will be seen recreating the ’80s hit track Tathaiya tathaiya that was instrumental in making Jeetendra a dancing star. But will Devgn just try to replicate those famous dance steps or will he try to establish his own unique quirky style? He’s not ready to let that out yet, but he does look happy with the final result. “It is one of the most popular numbers from the 80s. Right from the sets to the costumes and the choreography, everything has been perfectly recreated,” says Ajay.

The costumes, choreography and the sets, everything was just perfect, said Ajay Devgn.

The modern day ‘Tathaiya Tathaiya’ song was recently shot in Mumbai. We bring an exclusive picture from the sets of the song, have a look!
